Messilä Golf Oy's company presentation

The Messilä golf course gets its name from the manor, from the estates of which the area was divided into an independent estate and a company in the late 80s. 

The first mention of the village of Messilän is in history books as early as 1403. That is, around the same time that golf started in its mother country, Scotland. Originally, Messilä probably got its name from a boarder named Heyn Messisson who lived in the village in the 1460s. In 1635, Messilä became a stable, when Margareta and Corporal David Reid took over the farm. In 1781, Messilä changed hands when the Peron family lost the farm in a card game to Kaarle Poloni, a rusthollin boy from the Uskila village of Hollola. Today, the nearest accommodation services are located in Messilä manor.

The Messilän Golf Association was founded in 1988. The first shots on this course built on the ridge of Salpausselä were hit after the course was completed in 1990. The course designed by Kosti Kuronen has been renovated and almost all the greens have been updated according to Lassi-Pekka Tilander's plan since the beginning of the 2000s.

Messilä golf is a stock-based course and it has more than 800 owners. The association operating on the course, the Messilä golf association, has almost 1200 members. +- 35000 rounds are played in Messilä every year. Messilä golf has seen top international golf, e.g. Let Access Series Viaplay Ladies Finnish Open in 2018 and 2019.

Environmental values ​​are important in Messilä golf and are involved in all decision-making. Biodegradable fertilizers are primarily used in the management of the field and the environmental program is followed. Messilä golf is involved in the Hiilineutraali Golfkenttä project and participates as a partner in the air conditioning work of the municipality of Hollola. Messilä Golf Oy has 828 owners/partners. and 1174 members. In 2021, 34000 games were played on the field.
