The company story of Meaters Oy

Owners Tiia and Aku Tarkiainen say:

Our company got its start in 2014, when my boyfriend at the time, now my husband, wasn't getting enough work in raksha work. My husband Aku went to practice selling meat from this sales truck and stated that he enjoyed the job. We dreamed about the idea of owning a sales car for a while, money was tight, so we decided to try this thing with a rental car at first. To start the business, we also needed money from friends as a loan, and luckily we got it, thanks to them. Then we had to come up with a name for the company, Meaters Oy was born from the idea of meat and eaters. Aku's brother Atte also got involved in the company's operations, mainly he took over as a follower and advisor. Meaters Oy was then founded in 2015.

It took Aku several years to find and plan a workable and profitable driving route, which he still drives to this day.

Getting our company up and running has by no means been easy, but there have also been setbacks. For example, about a year ago, the rear axle of a sales car broke, due to a large bump on the road. This happened at the worst possible time for us, Christmas week. Well, that was solved by towing the car to the sales place with a flatbed, and part of the Christmas sales were saved with it. At first, the car part was supposed to arrive in Finland after 4-7 weeks, but 2 pieces of wrong parts arrived in Finland and finally this "stop" lasted about 3 months. Fortunately, our loyal customers didn't stop at that time, and we were able to continue the work.

Nowadays, the operation has been started, but we are always open to new ideas.

In the future, we would hope that we could possibly grow our business by purchasing another sales car, for example. Our family could also find people to continue this work, or even to run another sales car, if the children were excited about this work!

The owners of the company are working elsewhere, but if necessary, they are also ready to go to work in the sales van.
