Camping Messilä's business story

Päivi Saarela and Hannu Yrjölä say:

We founded Camping Messilä Oy in the spring of 1997. These during more than twenty years, we have little by little developed the area and its versatile functions customer-oriented and in good cooperation with the municipality of Hollola.

Hannu mainly handles the "external work" of the area, which includes a lot of different organization, developing a new look and keeping the places in order. The administrative side is Päiv's workplace. There is enough to deal with in customer relations, personnel matters and event planning, not to mention routine tasks or, for example, making offers.

Over the years, we have managed to get really good and long-term staff who are committed to his work. Summer workers also come to work again and again summer after summer. In summer we employ twenty employees and in winter 4-5. Running such an organization is versatile and long-term, and no two days are the same. Since we started, the job description has changed a lot. There have been social networks, networks, electronic systems and you know what. You have to go with them to keep up with the times.

The location of the area in Hollola on the shore of Lake Vesijärvi is very good both locally and in terms of tourism. There are about 30 overnight guests every year. About 000% of them are foreigners.

The summer season is a busy time in Camping Messilä. There are around 70 carriages in the area throughout the summer. There are more or less day visitors depending on the weather. Good restaurant services, a summer shop and sunny terraces attract both tourists and local people. The well-maintained beach with water sports facilities and beach volleyball courts are in active use. There are also villas with saunas and camping cabins.

Many events and parties are also organized in the area. Traditional midsummer with bonfires in Messilä and Enonsaari and barn dances are always the highlight of the summer. There is a summer restaurant in Enonsaaari's old villa. The island also has a nature trail, a Frisbee golf course, a barbecue area and a shelter, and there are beach saunas and cottages for rent. addition suggestion: Enonsaari can be reached by boat from Lahti harbor and Messilä beach.

During the winter, there are fifteen hundred caravans at the winter season sites. The customers are mainly from the capital region and come on weekends and holidays to spend time in Messilä and the surrounding area with good winter sports opportunities.
