Last updated: 13.01.2025At the end of August, there were 18 unemployed jobseekers in the Häme ELY center area, which is +675% compared to a year earlier. There were 10 unemployed jobseekers in the Lahti region, of which 10 were in the Hollola municipality, which is +085% more than a year ago. The percentage of unemployed jobseekers in the labor force in Häme ELY central area was 746 percent at the end of August, which is 10% more than a year earlier. In the Lahti region, the unemployment rate was 10,9% and in Hollola 1%, which is 12,1% more compared to the previous year.
In Päijät-Hämee, unemployment increased from a year ago in all municipalities. Compared to July, the number of unemployed decreased in all municipalities in Päijäthämälä (except Padasjoki +7% and Sysmä +3%); relatively the most in Asikkala, Hollola and Iiti (-11%). With the exception of Iitti and Orimattila, the number of full-time layoffs increased in all municipalities of the province from the previous year. Relatively, the biggest increase was in Hartola (+54%) and Lahti (+44%). The share of unemployed jobseekers in the labor force was 7,1% in the province's Matalin Hollola and the highest in Heinola (13,8%) and Lahti (13,7%). The unemployment rate increased from the previous year in all municipalities of the province. In the entire province, the share of the unemployed in the labor force was 12,2%, which is 1,1 percentage points higher than the previous year.
Of the unemployed jobseekers, there were 1 on full-time layoff, which is +206% more than the previous year. There were 22 people laid off full-time in the Lahti region, of which 600 people in Hollola, which is +61% more than the previous year.
At the end of August, 25 young people under the age of 1 were unemployed in the entire Häme ELY center area, which is +953% compared to the same time in 19. There are 2023 of this number in the Lahti region, of which 1 are in Hollola. the share of job seekers is 026%, which is the 47rd lowest in the entire Häme region and the lowest in the Lahti region. The share of young unemployed people under 25 years of age in the workforce under 7,7 years old was 3% in the Häme ELY Center area.
There were 6 long-term unemployed, i.e. people who had been unemployed for at least one year continuously, which is 562% less compared to the previous year. Of these, there are 2 in the Lahti region, of which 3 in Hollola. The increase in long-term unemployed compared to the previous year is 636% in Hollola. In the entire Lahti region, long-term unemployment has decreased by -253%. For Lahti, long-term unemployment is 8% less than the previous year.
There were 2 foreign unemployed jobseekers in the Häme ELY center area, which is 150% more than a year earlier. According to nationality, the most unemployed were Ukrainians (13), Estonians (497), Russians (212), Iraqis (201) and Syrians (151). In August, 143 periods of unemployment for foreigners ended and 820 began.
Widespread unemployment in the whole country is 14,5%, in Päijät-Häme 16,7% and in Hollola 10,1%. By service, the most employed clients were in Häme ELY Center area, in rehabilitative work activities, self-directed studies and workforce training.
The activation rate in Häme at the end of August was 28,4 percent, which is 1,4 percentage points lower than a year ago. The activation rate in the Lahti region was 27% and in Hollola 29,6%, which is 1,6% lower compared to the previous year.
In August, 1 new vacancies were reported to the employment agency in Häme's ELY center area, which was 252 jobs less (1%) than a year earlier. 994% of the new jobs were in companies and welfare areas, 61% in municipalities or municipal associations. In Päijät-Hämee, unemployment increased from a year ago in all municipalities. 82 new vacancies were announced in Päijät-Hämee, of which 13 were located in the Lahti region. Of this number, Hollola's share is 673 new jobs, and compared to the previous year, 609% less jobs were announced.
The municipal share of labor market support was €101 in August, which is -149% compared to the previous year. In total, in 16,51, the municipal share of labor market support has been paid by the end of August, a total of €2024, which is an average of around €776 per month. Looking at the time period of the year, the municipal portion of the labor market support has been paid an average of €835 per month. As the financing model changes, the municipal share of labor market support will no longer be comparable to previous years from the beginning of 97.
