From the fitness team to the labor market

Last updated: 13.05.2025

The Kunnontiimi is a work team of the municipality of Hollola, whose purpose is to push job seekers into the labor market and promote the well-being of the municipality's residents through various work projects.

The work sites vary from construction and renovation projects, to the management of natural sites, the cleaning of park forests, and the development of public spaces and outdoor recreation areas.

We update this website with introductions of the Kunnontiim's achievements and activities.

Examples of Kunnontiim's work projects

The maintenance team is carrying out various improvements and projects related to comfort and usability in the Tiilijärvi area. This publication combines all the work carried out so far since 2022. We have also compiled the most significant improvements.

"small surface repair" of Vähä-Tiilijärvi long trees

The boardwalks on the Tiilikangas side of Lake Vähä-Tiilijärvi were completely renovated in the fall of 2023. It was decided to cover the boardwalks with boards to make walking easier. In addition, walking around Lake Vähä-Tiilijärvi has been improved, for example, gravel was added to the platform from the boardwalks.

Revitalization of Vähä-Tiilijärvi's environment

The surroundings of Vähä-Tiilijärvi were brightened up with various decorations in the summer of 2023, when, as part of the Järvien sävelet (The Sounds of the Lakes) event, 3rd and 4th graders from Salpakankaa School built various insect hotels with the help of the Kunnontiimi (Good Team). Almost 80 different insect hotels and decorative wooden discs created by adult and child groups from Wellamo College were brightening up the northern edge of the lake.

The Kunnontiimi provided the wooden materials for the project and hung the decorations in the area. Bench and table groups built by the Kunnontiimi can also be found at Vähä-Tiilijärvi and on the shores of Keskitiilijärvi.

The bench and table groups that will be on the beach were built in the municipal depot hall.

Vähä-Tiilijärvi rest/observation platform

The team built an observation deck on the shore of Lake Vähä-Tiilijärvi for all outdoor enthusiasts.

Maintenance work on swimming beaches

The team also handles several maintenance jobs in outdoor areas, including mowing the lawn in Pikku-Tiilijärvi.

In winter, work focuses on indoor areas and there is time to work on larger projects. However, some of the work runs all year round, for example, forest clearing and thinning of small trees are only paused during the bird nesting season. The maintenance team also takes care of emptying and maintaining the municipality's outdoor trash cans all year round.

Construction of swimming pools and other construction projects

During the winter, swimming cabins and new market furniture are being built at the municipal depot. The swimming cabins are built from start to finish, including construction and painting work. Various woodwork is also concentrated a lot in the winter time.

Booths have been built since 2022 and currently booths built by the team can be found at least on the shores of Iso-Tilki, Kotomäki, Hahmajärvi and Kirkko.

The booths are also painted.
The work also included the installation of booths, the first booths made by the team were installed in the summer of 2022.

A lean-to was built in Pyhäniemi

The fitness team designed and built a lean-to in Pyhäniemi. The lean-to was put into use in autumn 2023 and is free for use by the municipality's residents. The lean-to is located along the Pyhäniemi fitness trail, serving fitness trail users and hikers. You can find the location of the lean-to and the municipality's outdoor trails on the municipality's website.

During the spring, the renovation team designed and built a colorful seating area in Hollola Market Square from donated pallets and paint. The seating areas were made with a recycling theme, utilizing materials donated by local businesses.

Seating groups made for both adults and younger users have been utilized in the summer café located in the municipal market, during Hollola days, and at the municipal beach. The benches have been freely available to all residents throughout the summer season.

All around the municipality there are good places to eat snacks built by Kunnontiim.

Full interior renovation of old residential apartments

The municipality's employment services operate in temporary premises in an apartment building located at Tiilijärventie 5D in the municipal center.

The renovation team was responsible for the renewal and renovation of four triangles that had been used for residential purposes to make them suitable for office use during 2022-2023. Under the leadership of work coaches Timo and Taija, the premises underwent a full surface renovation (in addition, a few walls were moved during the renovation). The team members renovated everything on their own with the guidance of the coaches, only external help was used for the electrical work. The renovation team consisted of both long-standing renovation experts and team members who had been learning the job from the beginning.

The apartments are currently used as offices by Employment Services and Päijät-Häme Employment Services. In addition to the customer reception facilities, a larger conference room was built in one of the facilities.

The entire renovation was under control with the professionalism of work coach Timo.

Installation of a recycled kitchen

The maintenance team's social facilities are located at the municipality's technical depot. The facilities were renovated in the fall of 2022, when the team members, among other things, installed a "recycled kitchen" for themselves from kitchen furniture freed from the old premises of the Cultural House.

During the summer season, invasive species are removed in various areas of the municipality. Team members have been responsible for, among other things, the removal of the giant pipe in the Hammonjoki River. Removing the giant pipe requires full protective equipment, so the work is demanding and requires attitude in the summer heat.

Protective equipment makes working even more challenging.

The Maintenance Team is responsible for the maintenance of several nature sites around Hollola. For your information, you can spot boards around Hollola's nature sites that tell about the work of the Maintenance Team. In spring 2022, the first boards were attached to the Pirunpesä campfire site and Martan Maja.

At Marta's cottage you will find an information board explaining the maintenance responsibilities of the Maintenance Team.
