Environmental Health Board

The Environmental Health Board is the joint environmental health care institution of the municipalities referred to in § 51 of the Municipal Act. The board has 11 members and alternate members, who are elected as agreed in the municipal cooperation agreement.

The term of office of the board is the term of the council, excluding the first term. The first term of office is agreed upon in the cooperation agreement.

The presenter is the director of environmental health, or if he is unable or disabled, the person assigned to replace him acts as the presenter. The person appointed by the board or appointed as his deputy is the keeper of the minutes.

The Environmental Health Board acts as an authority in accordance with the Health Protection Act (763/1994), the Food Act (297/2021), the Medicines Act (395/1987), the Tobacco Act (549/2016), the Veterinary Care Act (765/2009) and the Animal Diseases Act (76/2021) for all contracting authorities and is responsible of these tasks.
