A survey was conducted in the municipality of Hollola to develop the Vähä-Tiilijärvi beach on 6.-24.6.2025. 175 responses were received and a summary of the data has been produced to support planning. The survey aimed to hear users' perspectives on, among other things, what would be important to keep unchanged in the area and what would increase the amenity of the beach.

The natural environment of Vähä-Tiilijärvi in the immediate vicinity of the municipal center invites you to exercise and relax all year round. 77% of respondents said they exercise in the area once a week or more in the summer, and 53% in the winter.

The user experience starts with a smooth arrival to the area. As many as 72% answered that they arrive at Vähä-Tiilijärvi on foot or by bike, while 22% arrive by car. Development suggestions included paving the driveway, clarifying parking, and new signage.

The most important aspect of the Vähä-Tiilijärvi beach was its naturalness. Respondents called for action to improve water quality, cleanliness, child-friendliness and accessibility. Ideas were put forward to make the beach more pleasant, including developing a playground, toilets and exercise facilities.

The results of the survey can be utilized in the ongoing zoning change work, for example, in terms of responses related to traffic safety, routes, activities requiring building rights, and stormwater. More detailed responses related to, for example, sports, playground equipment, traffic, the environment, and functionality will be examined through the action plans to be implemented in the municipality in the coming years.

Summary of the results of the Vähä-Tiilijärvi development survey

Almost 200 responses were received to the market area development survey

To develop the Hollola market area, a survey was carried out in August 2024, collecting the perspectives and insights of various market users.
The survey could be answered electronically or on paper at the Hollola Main Library. In addition, visitors to the market were met and interviewed while attending the market events in August. A total of 190 responses were received.

The survey wanted to hear what kinds of things the market users and operators consider important? The most frequently mentioned things in the open-ended responses were:

  • services
  • landscaping and natural values
  • safety
  • cleanliness
  • comfort and aesthetics.

Respondents to the survey wanted free events for different age groups, such as culture, sports and food events. Structures that enable people to enjoy themselves, stay and do activities together in a safe and clean environment that is easy to get to were also considered important. Respondents wanted the market to have, for example, benches, planting, rubbish bins and signage.
Safety was also frequently mentioned in the responses (62 mentions). Respondents considered how all market users could feel safe when coming to the market. Car-free, alcohol-free and accessible were among the considerations. In addition, the responses presented a variety of perspectives on the market's structures, events and operations, as well as services.

A summary of the responses has been compiled to support planning and development work: Market survey results

150 exercisers responded to the Heinsuo Sports Center user survey.

The municipality of Hollola and Ramboll Finland collected the perspectives of the users of the Heinsuo sports center to support the design work on January 27.1th.21.2.2025. 150 respondents expressed their views on the area's mobility opportunities and how the functionality of parking and walkways could be improved from a user perspective. In addition, the results of the survey were discussed at the municipality's community forum on 4.3.2025 March XNUMX.

“Investing in well-being is worth it!”

Diversity was desired in terms of exercise opportunities and future solutions were expected to be sustainable and of high quality. The most common forms of summer exercise among respondents were:

  • fitness (47%)
  • running (39%)
  • tennis (33%).

Winter sports enthusiasts, on the other hand, said they enjoyed the following activities the most in the area:

  • skiing (76%)
  • outdoor ice skating (62%)
  • and general fitness (19%).

According to the results of the survey, the Heinsuo sports area should be a pleasant and safe recreation area for all ages. In the open-ended responses to the survey, the most mentioned sports facilities were an outdoor gym (48) and athletics (25). In addition to a variety of sports and leisure opportunities, respondents would like the area to include a children's playground, changing rooms and toilets.

Regarding parking areas and access routes, development needs were identified, especially in the ice rink parking and traffic arrangements. Respondents also raised important concerns about traffic safety in the area, and for example, speeding on Tiilijärventie raised concerns.

The preparation of the master plan for the Heinsuo sports area continues, and the results of the survey provide valuable user perspectives to support the work.
