Meals

Last updated: 04.07.2024

Children in early childhood education are entitled to meals at their early childhood education place. In early childhood education, the child is offered meals according to the care times. The food is versatile and healthy. Daycare centers follow the recommended food list of the food service of the municipality of Hollola, and family daycare workers also implement it where applicable. A doctor's or nurse's certificate is delivered to the early childhood education center about food allergies, which is renewed annually if necessary.

Food education as part of early childhood education

Hollola's early childhood education plan states that the goal of food education is to promote a child's positive attitude towards food and eating and to support versatile and healthy eating habits. In a positive atmosphere, we encourage the child to get to know foods with the help of different senses, exploring their appearance, smell, composition and taste properties. We create peaceful moments from dining situations, when we practice good table manners and the culture of eating together. With the help of a working group made up of educators to develop food education, nutrition issues are brought closer to everyday situations.

The Oiva control system

Our kitchen professionals prepare and offer a tasty, versatile and nutritious meal for children of many ages in kindergartens and schools. The foodstuffs used are of high quality and the degree of domesticity is high. We are moving towards climate-friendly offerings by offering two lunch options daily. Our menus have many children's favorite dishes and we also take into account the theme days according to the annual calendar.

The operation of our food services is responsible and transparent also in terms of hygiene. Oiva is the Food Agency's control system, where the results of food control are brought to consumers' attention. The inspection results are published online as electronic Oiva reports. The reports evaluate the company's food safety with smiley faces. When Oiva smiles, things are fine from the consumer's point of view. Our activities in this regard can be followed online as Oiva reports and as a paper printout in connection with the dining facilities.
