Shift care

Last updated: 22.07.2024

In Hollola, round-the-clock care is organized in the Salpakkanka daycare center. Shift care, i.e. night, evening and weekend care, serves those families where the caregivers, due to the nature of their work or studies, need care outside of the opening hours of other daycare centers (Mon-Fri 6.00:18.00 a.m. to XNUMX:XNUMX p.m.).

Even in shift care, the activities and dividing the children into small groups take place in a planned and flexible manner, depending on the situation, the needs of the group of children, the children's participation and the activities. Small groups can be permanent or changeable and different in composition. Children can independently and flexibly divide into small groups with the help of, for example, a play map. The goal of the pedagogy and small group activities included throughout the day is an unhurried and safe everyday life, where the activities are guided by routines familiar to the children and the predictable course of the day. In this way, the child maintains a sense of security and familiarity throughout the day.

Organizing shift care on public holidays

Decision of the Hollola Welfare Committee 16.05.2018 May 60 §XNUMX

The regional management and development group of early childhood education has agreed on regional cooperation to organize daycare on public holidays. Regional cooperation in the organization of shift care applies to the following public holidays: New Year's Day, Good Friday, Easter 1st and 2nd, Midsummer's Eve, Midsummer's Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. This means that on days shift care can be implemented as a purchase service in the shift care unit of the Lahti region when Hollola's shift care group is closed.
