Application for early childhood education

You can apply for a municipal early childhood education place all year round. According to the law, the application must be submitted 4 months before the need for care begins. In case of an unexpected need for care, the application period is 2 weeks. Such an unforeseen need can be due to employment, studies, training, or moving to the municipality. All children of early childhood education age have the right to full-time subjective early childhood education.

From application to start

Applying for an early childhood education place starts with filling out an electronic early childhood education application. You can contact service guidance about filling out the paper form. The application is processed about a month before the need for a place. We take into account the child's need for care, the child's possible special needs, the wishes recorded on the application, and the location of our units. Service guidance will contact the family if more detailed information is needed for the application. Service guidance must be notified of changes in the application information.

If the application has given permission for electronic notification, the decision on the place will be sent electronically. Notification of the decision will be sent by e-mail. The decision can be viewed and printed on the Our family page of the early childhood education WEB service. The service requires electronic identification. If electronic notification has not been approved, the decision will be sent by e-mail.

The place must be accepted or the offered place must be refused within two weeks of the decision. The start date can be postponed up to one month before the place is accepted. The early childhood education place will contact the family and inform them about the practices related to starting care and agree on a visit with the guardian. The family will visit the child's care place before the care begins. In connection with the visit, the immediate supervisor of the early childhood education will fill out a Service Agreement together with the family, which will agree in more detail on matters related to the child's early childhood education. Customer service and invoicing will begin according to the start date confirmed in the Service Agreement.

Submission of income information

The customer fee for early childhood education is calculated based on the need for the service, family size and total monthly income. In municipal early childhood education, income information must be submitted by the 5th day of the month following the start of care. In addition, the payment is checked for all customers every year in August, when all customers must submit the latest income information.
