Information security applies to all information that you use or store on a computer, phone, tablet, memory stick or paper. The goal of Tietoturva is to ensure that your information is correct, up-to-date and available when you need it. There are many dangers to data security, such as viruses, scam messages, hackers, stolen credentials and blackmail messages.
To improve data security, it is important to follow good practices, such as using different and difficult passwords, keeping devices and programs up to date, taking backups of your data, not opening suspicious links and messages, and keeping your devices and papers behind locks.
With data protection refers to the fundamental right to safe processing of personal data that belongs to all of us. Personal data is all information on the basis of which a person can be identified. For example, name and photo are personal data.
Cyber security can be seen as one area of information security. When information security focuses on protecting all data. Cyber security focuses on the protection, prevention and recovery of information systems and networks in an electronic and networked society. Cyber security involves the protection of electricity distribution and other critical infrastructure.

Netiquette - rules of the game for schoolchildren's use of the Internet
Netiquette refers to the rules of behavior in the information network. Listed below are things that you should remember when sending messages on the Internet.
1. Write correctly. Remember to use a capital letter and punctuation marks as in other writing.
2. Don't reveal your password even to your best friends.
3. Do not reveal your last name, address, place of residence, phone number or the name of your school to strangers.
4. Do not give strangers pictures or private information about yourself or people you know.
5. Ask your parents or guardians for permission when you want to search/copy/download material online. Remember to respect copyright!
6. Ask permission also when you participate in contests and when you give your email address to strangers.
7. Tell your parents or other adults if someone sends you disgusting or strange pictures or texts.
8. Remember that no one can force you to do anything! If you're talking to someone in a chat group and you're asked a question you don't want to answer, you don't have to.
9. Remember that the people you meet on the Internet may not be who they say they are!
10. If you decide to meet someone you met online, never go to meet them alone! The first time, a familiar adult must be with you, and the meeting must be held in a public place, not at someone's home.
11. Do not respond to disgusting or malicious messages that you receive from other participants in, for example, a chat group. You can take a screenshot of the content and leave the chat group.
12. Do not send rude or offensive messages to others. Be polite and respect the opinions of others.
