School transportation
Last updated: 09.04.2026The municipality organizes free transportation for preschool and elementary school students or assists with transporting or escorting the student in the following cases, when the student attends a school designated by the municipality:
- the student is in pre-2nd grade and their commute to school is 3 km or longer
- the student is in grades 3-9 and their commute to school is 5 km or longer
- The journey to school without transportation would be too difficult, burdensome or dangerous for the student, taking into account the student's age or other circumstances. The difficulty or danger of the journey to school is assessed based on the school's chalk program and the burdensomeness of the journey based on an expert opinion.
If the student attends a school other than the one designated by the municipality, school travel costs will only be granted for a special reason, which may be related to health or another discretionary reason. Attendance at schools in a foreign municipality is not supported in terms of travel costs. The city of Lahti assigns a middle school place to the students of Vesikansa.
For matters related to school transport, please familiarize yourself with the school transport principles below. For questions arising from the school transport principles, please contact service coordinator Sara Aakala. For matters related to school transport decisions, additional information is primarily provided by school principals. For transport decisions for preschoolers, please contact the early childhood education manager. For other school transportation issues, please contact the school's office secretary.

General matters related to school transport are communicated to guardians and students via messages in Wilma,
with bulletins and forms. Wilma forms are only visible when logged in to a web browser, i.e. they are not visible in the mobile application.
The municipality of Hollola uses the MunApp application for those in separate transport.
for guardians of preschoolers and schoolchildren. The application is also used as a channel for information.
Schedule
The right to transport must be declared using the Wilma form by June.
Publication of transport information (transport mode, preliminary schedule) in Wilma during June.
The final transport plan for those entitled to transport (regular transport, LSL or/and separate transport, chartered passenger car or minibus) will be announced in the MunApp application at the beginning of July, week 32. (Note! Any changes will not be updated on the Wilma form).
- MunApp application – a mode of transport for those entitled to transport in early July (week 32)
- MunApp application – a timetable designed for use by students using the bus. (The MunApp application does not have a route schedule or tracking for bus traffic!)
- Bus timetables are monitored from LSL's scheduled timetables, for example from their route app.
- LSL will publish the winter season schedules and routes no later than July, so please familiarize yourself with them in good time and practice using the scheduled services as needed.
- MunApp application – up-to-date car, pickup location and schedule information for those being transported separately, as well as cancellations of unnecessary transports.
- Schedules for separate transportation are often updated in August, for example due to new students and changes in the school schedule. It is worth checking the morning pick-up time every day after school starts.
Note! Updates for various reasons will also occur throughout the academic year, so you should monitor MunApp to confirm schedules.
The Wellbeing service area is on vacation in June and July, so we will respond to inquiries related to the published Wilma School Transportation form after the vacation period.
The best way to reach us is via Wilma or email.

changes in ride needs for separate transportation.
During the spring, we will open a student phone number form under guardian IDs in Wilma, which we will use to collect students' valid phone numbers for the application identifier.
