Activities of the Council for the Elderly and the Disabled

The Council for the Elderly and Disabled is involved in the preparation of the plan for supporting the elderly population referred to in the Elderly Services Act, and in the assessment of the adequacy and quality of services in accordance with the Elderly Services Act.

The council has the opportunity to influence the municipality

  • for planning the operation of service areas
  • for preparation and follow-up in matters that are important for the elderly population and persons with disabilities
    • well-being
    • of health
    • participation
    • habitat
    • housing
    • movement
    • performance of daily activities
    • or in terms of the services they need

Through its own activities, the council's task is to promote the maintenance of self-determined functional capacity and the promotion of health and well-being of the population of the municipality/municipalities, especially the elderly and disabled. Duties also include veteran affairs.

The Council for the Elderly and Disabled appreciates the opportunity to participate in the municipality's decision-making bodies. These serve as important information acquisition and influencing channels for the Council for the Elderly and the Disabled. Seeing and understanding the whole helps the members in their own tasks.
