Water traffic restrictions

In certain water areas, movement by water vehicle may be prohibited or restricted for a specified period of time or until further notice. This can be done to protect traffic, the environment, fishing or other livelihoods, or for general recreational use or other public interest.

Regional prohibitions or restrictions concerning public access routes are decided by the Finnish Road Administration and prohibitions and restrictions concerning other water areas are decided by the Regional Business, Transport and Environment Center (ELY Center).
