Nature conservation areas

Last updated: 13.09.2023

The diversity of species and habitat types is protected in nature reserves. In nature conservation areas, care is also taken to preserve the national landscape, cultural heritage and recreation and camping areas. Various nature conservation areas are, for example, national parks, sites in the Natura 2000 network and nature conservation areas of private lands.

In the Hollola area, water areas, marshes, and for example the Pirunpesä area with its rocks and gorges have been protected. The Kutajärvi area and Tiirismaa are sites of the Natura 2000 network. You can familiarize yourself with the nature reserves, for example, in Sykke's Karpalo map service or in the Land Surveying Institute's Spaikkatietoikkuna map application. More detailed information about some of Hollola's nature reserves can also be found on the Lahti Region Nature website.

The Häme ELY Center promotes the protection and sustainable use of natural diversity as well as the protection of the landscape in its area and is responsible, for example, for the establishment of private nature reserves. You can read more about establishing a private nature reserve on the websites of the Ministry of the Environment and ELY Center.
