Climate projects

Last updated: 26.09.2024

Hollola is actively seeking funding for its own climate work from various funding sources. Funding is applied for own projects and the municipality participates in the projects of partners, which are presented on this page.

Salpakkanka industrial area urban water management advisory project

The overall goal of the project is to reduce the discharge of harmful substances into the environment from the properties of the Salpakakka industrial area. In the project, the information from previous surveys of the industrial area will be compiled and sustainable urban water management guidelines will be compiled for the area, as well as counseling visits will be offered to property owners and operators in the area. The operating model is confirmed for use by the municipality so that it can be replicated in other industrial areas within the municipality, as well as nationally.

The project is part of the Ministry of the Environment's Ahti program and the project has received funding from the program. The total costs approved by the project plan and grant decision are €49 (VAT 000%), of which the grant is €0 (39%). The project is implemented by the municipality of Hollola, and the project is implemented in cooperation with e.g. the ELY center and the Päijät-Häme rescue service. The project implementation period is 1.8.2024 – 15.7.2025.

Municipal climate plans in cooperation

Together with five other municipalities in Päijät-Häme, the municipality of Hollola received funding for the preparation of the municipality's climate plan. The work is done in cooperation with Asikkala, Iiti, Hartola, Kärkölä and Padasjoki. The work is managed by the regional association. The project will last until 2025, after which all municipalities in Päijät-Häme will have their own climate plan.

Municipal residents, companies and all willing operators will be involved in the work and in drawing up the plan.

The climate work of PIKU small municipalities to a new pace

The project, funded by the Ministry of the Environment and six small municipalities in Paijäthämä, promoted climate action in the municipal and agricultural sectors through training, counseling and workshops. Starting in February 2022 and until the summer of 2023 a climate coordinator worked full-time in the ongoing PIKU project.

Hollola and Asikkala were strongly involved in the project. The project municipalities also included Iitti, Kärkölä, Padasjoki and Sysmä. The project was carried out in cooperation with the Päijät-Häme association and other regional actors. The PIKU project also included an agricultural section, where, in cooperation with actors in the agricultural sector, carbon sequestering practices were promoted in farming in Hollola and Asikkala.

At the beginning of the project, the situation and bottlenecks of the municipalities' climate work were mapped. Based on the mapping work, specific trainings and workshops were organized for the municipality's different areas of responsibility. During the project, the possibilities of additional funding for the needs identified in the municipalities were also mapped and assistance was provided in the preparation of funding applications.
