Obligation to join the water supply network
Last updated: 15.02.2024Hollola urges you to join the water and sewerage network
When approving the operational area of Hollola's water supply, the municipality has determined that in the area, the connection of properties to the water supply and sewage system is necessary due to the realized or planned community development. Water and wastewater networks have also been built in areas that have had a lot of domestic water quality problems or for health and environmental protection reasons have seen benefits from centralized municipal wastewater treatment. With centralized water supply, people are guaranteed sufficient and good drinking water as well as proper waste water treatment, which are not necessarily realized with property-specific domestic water wells and waste water systems.
In the water supply area, where water and sewer networks have already been built, the property is basically obliged to connect to the networks according to the Water Supply Act. Joining is agreed with Lahti Aqua Oy.
The municipality of Hollola regularly investigates unrelated properties, taking into account e.g. groundwater, coastal and/or densely built-up statistical agglomeration areas. Based on the surveys and other monitoring, the Hollola municipality's water supply facility and the environmental protection authority approach unrelated properties by letter.
You can apply for an exemption from joining on certain grounds from the municipality's environmental protection authority. Information on the conditions for the exemption and instructions for applying for the exemption can be found Exemptions from the Water Supply Act from the page.
