Fitness team – a path to working life in Hollola

The Kunnontiim unit has been operating as part of Hollola's employment services for several years. The unit's goal is to act as a springboard for job seekers from Hollola to the labor market. The activities offer practical work experience in many fields - with the aim of supporting the discovery of further paths and job search during a work trial. The Kunnontiim unit also offers work trial opportunities to get to know the field before applying for studies or completing parts of a degree.

Because Kunnontiimi members are getting to know each other during the work trial, they can be supported to identify and articulate their existing strengths, and job opportunities that are suitable for them can be mapped out. At the same time, the work projects implemented by Kunnontiimi have been able to promote the well-being of the residents in the municipality.

What did the Maintenance Team do during 2025?

During 2025, Kunnontiim began to place increasing emphasis on job search coaching offered to job seekers. and the utilization of hidden jobs that come to light through employer services was intensified. A total of 45 job seekers from Hollola gained work experience in the Kunnontiimi in 2025.

The training team started developing follow-up services for those completing their work trial, as they do not want the support to end when the work trial period ends. The aim is to continue to provide help with job search from familiar coaches. As part of the activities, a monthly peer-support-based "Open Afternoon" has also been launched for all job seekers.

Examples of successes and work projects around Hollola in 2025

While working in the Maintenance Team, you will be doing various real estate and renovation work, while also investing in job searching and developing your own skills. The Maintenance Team actively monitors open job openings in the field and provides support in applying for jobs as needed. An example of this is a transport expert who came to the Maintenance Team while looking for a job and found a way back to work. During his time in the Maintenance Team, his job search documents were prepared and at the same time, job opportunities in the field were mapped out using the networks accumulated in the team. The expert applied for an open position in a transport company and because the work items during the Maintenance Team period had made his motivation for work and strengths visible, it was easy to recommend him as a worker to the company in question. The transport expert was selected for the long-term job in question.

The maintenance team works all over the municipality. During 2025, the Maintenance Team's tasks included, among others, the care of nature sites and park forests, the removal of invasive species, vandalism repair work, the care of recreational sites and maintaining a litter-free environment. Highlights of the work projects during the year include, among others, the renovation of the new Ohjaamo, maintenance of the bicycle transmitter wheel and replacement of studded tires, a large number of small removal jobs, the removal of fallen trees on the trails, fishing for bench-table groups from the lake, and the renewal of the bollards in the Soisalmi bog. In previous years, many recreational area structures have also been built, such as swimming cabins for the municipal beaches, a lean-to, the Järvien kyirkos viewing platform, and the renovation of the employment operators' escape rooms in apartment buildings on Tiilijärventie.

The work sites vary from one end of the Maintenance Team to the other. In addition, sites familiar to residents in the summer – renovated bathing cabins at the beaches – are being completed.

Plans for 2026

The new operating model of the Kunnontiim was established last year and will continue in 2026. The Kunnontiim's workload is very project-based, which automatically brings continuous new learning for both coaches and Kunnontiim members.

The Open Afternoon Group meetings will be established this year: The open-to-all job search group meets on the first Tuesday afternoon of every month at the Kunnontiim premises. There are plenty of ideas for development – however, the basic idea is to act as a springboard for local residents looking for work into working life. Applications for the Kunnontiim work trial are made through the guidance of the employment services of the Päijät-Häme Employment Authority.
