A project group has been formed to support the Safe Everyday Villages project, which is responsible for steering and monitoring the project. The group includes authorities, municipal representatives and representatives of the villages of Päijät-Häme.
During September, the project invites village associations to join in developing a safer everyday life. Registration is open until September 17.9th on the project website at https://hollola.fi/kunta-ja-hallinto/hankkeet-kylaturvallisuushanke/.
The project coordinator has approached associations whose contact information is publicly available.
– I encourage villages to get involved and have a say in the safety of their own villages. Village associations will initially act as an important link between the village and the project. Once the participating villages are identified, we will carry out a village safety survey, to which we hope to receive a lot of responses from all residents, says project coordinator Tea Sissonen.
Village safety groups strengthen everyday safety in villages
In connection with the village safety assessment, the project coordinator recruits representatives for village safety groups to be established in the villages. The groups consist of a chairperson, 2–4 resident representatives and representatives of organizations operating in the villages. The village safety groups operate independently with the support of the project coordinator and prepare, among other things, a village safety plan, contingency cards and a rescue plan for village events.
– The results of the village safety survey will be made available to the village and the village safety group to develop preparedness. Through the project group, the authorities also receive valuable information about the situation in the villages and the development of safety in a multidimensional way. For example, various safety evenings can be organized for the villagers with the village safety group. The project offers training on the 72-hour home emergency concept to each participating village, Sissonen adds.
The progress of the project will be communicated through the municipality's communication channels. Current news and additional information can be found on the project website at https://hollola.fi/kunta-ja-hallinto/hankkeet-kylaturvallisuushanke/.
