Advocacy bodies include the Youth Council, the Senior Citizens Council and the Disability Council.
In October, the youth council applied for three full members and alternate members aged 13–25 through a general application. 26 applications were received, more than double the number received when the welfare area first started operating.
– We received a large number of motivated applicants. I believe the interest is due to the fact that our youth council received good visibility this year at the MoodFest we organized for young people, the chairman Alisa Dahlstrom evaluate.
The youth council of the welfare area has a representative from each municipality in Päijät-Häme, but place of residence was not considered a criterion in the general application.
– We reviewed the applications and the selection process strongly reflected the fact that the applicant brings their own voice to the table and is able to say what they would like to see changed regarding young people, says Alisa Dahlström.
