The village safety project "Safe Everyday Villages in Hollola" develops forms of cooperation between village communities, organizations and authorities. The project also produces tools to support village communities and manage disruptions.

– We have awakened to the need for security in a new way in recent years. The municipality has taken on this challenge by applying for and receiving Leader funding for a village security project, says the mayor. Päivi Rahkonen.
– The municipality of Hollola encourages all its villages to participate in the project and take action. Together, we will increase the municipality's resilience to disruptions and at the same time the villages' well-being and comfort, Rahkonen adds.

A village safety survey will be conducted for villages

The project will start in the fall of 2025. The first step is to identify villages that want to participate in the project through village associations. A village safety survey will be conducted for the participating villages.

– The results of the survey will be implemented next year at the latest. Village safety groups will be established in the villages participating in the project, where the results will be utilized, says the project coordinator. Tea Sissonen.

Villages are equipped to deal with everyday disruptions, for example by training villagers in the 72-hour home emergency concept.

– Preparedness in the villages does not end when the project ends, but village safety groups ensure the continuity of local safety and preparedness, for example by updating the village safety plan annually, Sissonen adds.

The progress of the project will be communicated through the municipality's communication channels.
