National Home and School Day is celebrated every year in autumn, reminding of the importance of cooperation between home and school. This year, the event encourages reading fueled by togetherness and encounters. On the day of the event, Hollola's basic education schools invite parents to get to know the everyday life of the school in cooperation with parents' associations and the municipality's food services. Food services welcomed the idea of a breakfast day.
With the OSBU pilot piloted by the municipality's youth council, the day gets a good-spirited and tasty start, when the food services cover breakfast in the school canteen. A tasty and healthy breakfast is available nearby, minimizing waste.
The event date is part of the national waste week 23.–29.9. The purpose of waste week is to increase the appreciation of food and the discussion about food waste. A shared moment at the breakfast table leads the day's guests of honor, both parents and schoolchildren, to the school-specific program. The day's focus is on meetings that aim to strengthen cooperation between homes and schools in order to secure children's growth and learning.
Parents have been able to sign up for the breakfast event using the registration form provided through Wilma.
