It is particularly pleasing that the experience of bullying has decreased and alcohol use is less common than the Finnish average. On the other hand, experimentation with e-cigarettes and other nicotine products and lack of exercise are emerging as areas for development.

Key takeaways from elementary school (grades 4–5)

Strengths
Life satisfaction has risen: 84% feel their life is good (85% nationwide).
Bullied at school weekly is less common: 8% (9% nationwide).
Eating breakfast at a good level: 71% (whole country 71%).
School lunch quality and adequacy excellent: 91% feel that lunch is sufficient (national average 89%).
A good friend can be found in almost everyone.: 99% (whole country 99%).

Development targets
• Experimenting with e-cigarettes is more common: 8%, 5% nationwide.
• Communication with parents slightly weaker: 77%, countrywide 82%.
• At least one hour of daily exercise at a lower level: 41%, countrywide 44%.

Key takeaways from middle school (grades 8–9)

Strengths
Alcohol use is lower than in the whole country: 74% do not drink alcohol (the whole country 71%).
Bullied at school weekly is less common: 6% (8% nationwide).
Good working conditions in classes: 72% (nationally 71%).
School meals stands out positively:
– 61% eat daily (56% nationwide)
– Good quality 47% (whole country 39%)
– Tastes good 50% (whole country 42%)
– Enough food 92% (whole country 83%)
Breakfast consumption increased: 53% → 56% (whole country 55%).
You can be yourself at school.: 83% (whole country 81%).
Reduced experience of physical threat clearly: 21% → 13% (whole country 15%).


Development targets
Experimenting and using nicotine products more common than in the whole country:
– Tried by 45% (38% nationwide)
– 11% use it daily (10% nationwide)
Mental well-being challenges are still visible, even though life satisfaction has increased:
– Moderate or severe anxiety 23% (whole country 22%)
– Worried about mood in the last year 42% (39% nationwide)
– 18% feel lonely (13% nationwide) – especially girls
– Difficulty falling asleep daily: 24% (national average 19%).
At least an hour of daily exercise remains below the national level: 25% (whole country 28%).
